One thing I remember from Willink’s book was where he stated something along the lines that he and his men were having the time of their life while in a firefight.
I think there is something not right about that guy but like someone was quoted in this post, nobody wants to say anything because he was a SEAL officer serving his country.
I mean, yes, I've been there, sights on a guy digging a hole in a road, but I don't know that "digging a hole" even in a road regularly littered with IED's qualifies as hostile intent in a court of law... it might in the mind of those on-the-ground, and I know, I was one of them, but there's no statute of limitations on murder... tough call for any young person to make, I know... on one hand, your command wants you to be aggressive as shit, on the other, they say: don't make my life harder by prompting an ROE investigation... no wonder shit like this keeps cropping up decades later...
Can’t say any of this surprises me. Recommend people watch the Apple doc “The Line” which provides a look into another Seal team which faced both the dilemma and ease to which moral corruption can impact leadership and lead to both crimes and coverups.
From my experience working with, being attached to various seal teams, Code Over Country is the most precise look into the seal team CULT-ure.
