The Ice Man is a story about how CIA personnel killed an Iraqi man in a torture position in Abu Ghraib prison, covered it up, and got away with it. They got away with it because the Navy SEALs who risked their lives to capture that suspected Iraqi terrorist took the fall for the CIA.

It’s taken nearly 20 years to tell this story. It’s taken that long for the CIA to admit that its personnel were involved in a criminal conspiracy to coverup the truth, a coverup that was never prosecuted. It took a lawsuit I filed against the CIA to force this story into the open. It will be revealed here for the first time.

The Navy SEALs operate in the shadows and vast parts of this story officially remain classified. But The Ice Man will reveal never-before-told details of secret SEAL missions. An entire chapter reveals a military secret, exploring how the SEALs developed a cadre of hand-picked, specially-trained men who were the military equivalent of CIA case officers.

The Ice Man is also a deeply personal story for me. This book is dedicated to honoring the central character, a former Navy SEAL named Dan Cerrillo, a friend who recently passed away. Dan died of a heart attack, a legacy of wounds he suffered during his mission in Iraq.

I’m telling the story the way Dan would want it to be told: No bullshit, straight ahead, take no prisoners. That’s the way Dan lived his life. Dan didn’t believe in quitting, so I won’t either.
