The Company Behind the ODNI Election Probe
A former Marine JAG closed his law practice and assembled a team of cyber professionals. Then the government came calling.
For some time now, I’ve been keeping an eye on a company called Mojave Research. It’s one of those outfits that seemed to materialize out of thin air. It was incorporated in Wyoming in 2025, with no public track record, no press releases, only to land a classified contract with the Office of the Director of National Intelligence on an issue very much in the news these days: election security.
As Reuters reported this week, ODNI tapped Mojave to study vulnerabilities in the voting machines used in Puerto Rico’s 2024 elections, machines manufactured by Dominion, the company at the center of some of the most persistent conspiracy theories about the 2020 race. These claims have repeatedly failed in court, led to the disbarment of Rudy Giuliani and other lawyers who advanced them, were part of Fox News’ $787.5 million defamation settlement, and helped spark the January 6 attack and Trump’s indictment.
