At a press conference on Monday, CIA Director John Ratcliffe disclosed that the agency had used “exquisite technologies that no other intelligence service in the world possesses” to find and rescue the second American airman shot down in southern Iran. Ratcliffe likened it to “hunting for a single grain of sand in the middle of a desert.”
President Trump gushed about the technical wizardry the CIA deployed, claiming it was able to locate the airman from “40 miles away.”
“It’s like finding a needle in a haystack, finding this pilot, and the CIA was unbelievable,” Trump said Monday. “The CIA was very responsible for finding this little speck.”
